I think most people develop an office buddy if not an office spouse. I don't think that the office buddy relationship (whether between opposite or same sex employees) can be stopped because we all have someone with whom we are more comfortable confiding in than others - and I believe that is why these relationships exist. Whether it is disagreeing with company decisions, office politics, problems with co-workers or problems at home, everyone seems to need someone to confide in.
