Speaking of the Big Game…(Spoiler Alert!) CareerBuilder Commercial

CareerBuilder.com leaked its Big Game ad yesterday. Check it out.
The ad marks the launch of CareerBuilder’s new 2009 marketing campaign – and it’s definitely representative of our off-beat humor. (Yes, humor. Down economy or not, the fact remains that many companies are still hiring right now – and Big Game viewers still want to be entertained).
Anyhoo, whether or not it’s your cup of tea, the ads are doing something right: In the three months following its Big Game advertising last year, CareerBuilder saw significant surges in job seeker traffic and behavior – including a 68 percent increase in job applications. But of course…I want to hear what you think.
About Mary Lorenz
Mary is a copywriter for CareerBuilder, specializing in B2B marketing and corporate recruiting best practices and social media. In addition to creating copy for corporate advertising and marketing campaigns, she researches and writes about employee attraction, engagement and retention. Whenever possible, she makes references to pop culture. Sometimes, those references are even relevant. A New Orleans native, Mary now lives in Chicago, right down the street from the best sushi place in the city. It's awesome.I think it's amusing that CB didn't air the best ad available during LAST year's game, because it was, and I quote: "an election year, we didn't want to rock the boat". You know, being owned by the conservative newspapers and all. But it's OK to air a spot as classless as this one? Too little, too late.
Funny, risky and a little shocking at the end. Memorable. Will attract more men than women to your site.
Starts funny, but then punching small animals? Took a decent idea and it turned tasteless. Too bad. Thumbs down. And I hate saying that b/c I love you guys!
This ad campaign is awful. There are actually marketing executives at CareerBuilder that gave the green light on this ad campaign. I think it's time to start firing these people who made the decision to spend 6 million for these two un-funny, lazy, and tasteless ads to run during the Superbowl.
I think it's fun. We've all been there (esp. shouting/cursing in the car) Chris Kahle call's the ad "pretty brillz" and I agree!
WHOEVER THOUGHT THAT KOALA GETTING PUNCHED WASNT FUNNY...YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS!!! BECAUSE IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!

I love Super Bowl ads but the one with the screaming lady and other scenes reapeated over and over again is not catchy nor cleaver. Slugging a cute little bear is ugly. d
