Emerald Performance Materials, LLC recently discovered that, when it comes to attracting the right candidates for a hard-to-fill position, the difference is in the job posting.
Emerald Performance Materials, LLC markets technologically advanced specialty chemicals for a broad range of food and industrial applications. Emerald’s products play a variety of roles in the products that are consumed and used every day enabling them to last longer, look, smell, taste or perform better. The company’s products are used in aerospace, food, beverages, cosmetics, toothpaste, household products, paint, tires, automobiles, sports gear and many other applications.
COMPANY SITUATION
Emerald Performance Materials was in need of a Chemical Plant Supervisor in Kalama, WA. They ran their usual job advertisement for this position, but found that they were not receiving the exposure nor the qualified applications desired.
Mystified by this disconnect, Emerald Performance turned to CareerBuilder for assistance. After consulting with their CareerBuilder representative, Emerald Performance Materials decided that Standard Job Optimization would help to elevate their applicant flow and increase the quality of the candidates applying.
With Standard Job Optimization, Emerald Performance Materials had their job advertisement reformatted, then supercharged with more keywords chemical plant engineers were using in order to get in front of their target audience.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
After just two months, Emerald Performance Materials saw great results after implementing Standard Job Optimization to their CareerBuilder postings:
- They were able to fill their Chemical Plant Supervisor opening
- The amount of searches their jobs appeared in increased by 58%
- The total number of candidates viewing their job posting increased by 45%
- They saw a 38% increase in total applications

About Jamie Womack
As Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Branding, Womack directs the development of strategic marketing for the corporate marketing team and focuses on the recruitment needs of employers of all sizes. This includes overseeing business-to-business strategy including communications, advertising, promotions, events, and customer lifecycle and loyalty. In addition to leading corporate marketing efforts, Womack manages the sales training program at CareerBuilder. She works closely with her team of trainers to clearly communicate sales strategies, tactics, product developments and overall company goals to CareerBuilder’s sales force. Womack has been with the CareerBuilder organization for seven years. Prior to her role as vice president of marketing, Womack worked as a vice president in the sales training department and as a marketing team director. Before joining CareerBuilder, Womack worked in the real estate and mortgage industry. The job posting should be clear as to what you want what I found is that employers stuff every key word into the description till it is not readable.
