If there’s one thing American employers take pride in, it’s their military veteran employees – or at least their efforts to recruit them. In a recent CareerBuilder survey, 80 percent of employers said they promote the fact that their company hires military veterans. The same survey also found that, given the choice between two equally qualified candidates for a job (where one is a U.S. veteran), two thirds of employers (66 percent) would be more likely to hire the veteran.
Hiring military personnel is not just good will; many employers say it’s also good business: In a previous CareerBuilder survey, employers who had hired U.S. veterans or members of the National Guard said these members of the workforce bring a number of attributes to their organizations, including a disciplined approach to work, the ability to work as a team, and a sense of respect and integrity.
