North Dakota might not be home to any national monuments, notable sports teams, memorable architecture, noteworthy museums or famous residents, but there is one characteristic distinguishing it from the other 49 states: remarkable job growth.
Economic Modeling Specialists, Intl. (EMSI), a CareerBuilder company, recently released a list of the states showing the fastest recovery in terms of job growth since the end of the Great Recession. With 17 percent job growth from 2010 to 2013, North Dakota leads the pack, with D.C. following at a distant second. Utah, Texas and Colorado rounded out the top five. On the other end of the spectrum, Arkansas, Mississippi, Maine, Alabama, and New Mexico have seen the slowest post-recession job recoveries, with job growth ranging from merely 1.1 percent to 1.6 percent over the last four years.
The following graph shows the states with most job growth per capita.
|Jobs added (2010-2013)||% Change||New Jobs Per 10,000 People|
|District of Columbia||21,348||2.9%||337|
This type of information is crucial when it comes to creating a strategic recruitment plan. Understanding the job growth landscape can help you make more informed recruitment decisions.
