5 Mobile Recruiting Trends You Must Know About

2013 is set to be the year that, well, just about everything goes mobile – from shopping to making reservations and paying bills to networking. One area of the business world that is positioned right in the vortex of this change is recruitment. Put simply, as the world goes mobile – and, with it, candidates – recruitment must follow.

In fact, there are five key mobile hiring trends recruiters must know about when developing their hiring strategies for 2013 and beyond.

5 Key Mobile Recruiting Trends

1. The world is now moving to smartphones

Comscore data suggests that 55 percent of people now use smartphones and an e-Marketer report predicts that nearly 80 percent of U.S. citizens will have smartphones by the end of 2013, which is basically everyone who is old enough to use one.

2. Job seekers want to engage with employers on their phones

Research from simplyhired tells us that 70 percent of job seekers now use mobile technology to apply for jobs and that 72 percent of them want to receive career opportunity information on their mobile device, according to reconverse research.

3. Mobile will soon be on planes

Boeing is planning to enable smartphone usage on planes this year, meaning that ‘transit’ will now be an occasional marketing opportunity for employers to begin to target candidates and for candidates to begin applying. Do you have a strategy to target the transatlantic job seeker?

4. 4G is here

4G is expected to take hold of the mobile waves in 2013 which means mobile data speeds will start doubling in 2013, meaning job applicants will be ready and much more able to consume employer branding video content and engage in video based mobile interviews.

5. 5 Inch smart-phone screens becoming standard in 2013

One of the limitations of smartphone-based job searching is the difficulty of filling out job applications on three-inch screens. This is all set to change as an article on reveals that all the main manufacturers will be shipping five-inch handsets in early 2013, and insiders believe that the five-inch screen will become standard in 2013. This means that job seekers will be more ready than ever to be conducting their job search and applications via their five-inch screens.

Good luck with mobile recruitming in 2013.
